FAQ & Fees
Straight answers to the practical stuff, so you can save your energy for the part that matters.
Insurance I accept
- Anthem Blue Cross
- CalOptima Health (Orange County)
- Aetna
- Blue Cross Blue Shield
- TriWest Healthcare Alliance
Coverage varies from plan to plan, so it's a good idea to call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask about your outpatient mental health benefits. Not using insurance? Fees vary depending on the service, so reach out and I'll walk you through your options.
Have a different plan? If I'm out of network with your insurance, I can provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement through your out-of-network benefits.
Frequently asked questions
What happens in the first session?
Think of it as a conversation. We'll talk about what's bringing you in, what you'd like to be different, and how I can help. Together, we'll start creating a plan that fits you. No pressure, no performance, and you don't need to have it all figured out.
How much does therapy cost?
Session fees vary depending on the type of service, so I'd rather talk with you directly than list a number that may not apply. Reach out and I'll give you clear, upfront pricing before we start.
Do you take insurance?
Yes. I'm in network with Anthem Blue Cross, CalOptima Health (Orange County), Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield and TriWest Healthcare Alliance. I'm happy to help you figure out what your plan covers.
What if you're out of network with my insurance?
I can provide a superbill, which is a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement through your out-of-network benefits. Reimbursement depends on your plan, so call your insurer and ask whether you have out-of-network outpatient mental health coverage, and how much they reimburse.
How does telehealth work?
All sessions happen over a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You'll get a link before each appointment. All you need is a phone, tablet or computer, a reliable internet connection, and a private spot where you can talk freely.
Do I need to be in California?
Yes. California law requires that you're physically located in California at the time of each session, even if you're usually here and just traveling.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please give at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. That time is reserved just for you, and notice lets me offer it to someone else who's waiting. The late cancellation or no show fee is $100 for a 60 minute session.
Do you work with kids and teens?
Yes. For children and teens, a parent or guardian with legal authority will need to consent to treatment. In separated or divorced families, I may ask for a copy of the current custody order before we begin.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes, with a few exceptions required by law, such as when someone's safety is at risk or when abuse of a child, elder or dependent adult is suspected. If your therapy is connected to a court case, the limits of confidentiality can look different, and I'll explain exactly how it works before we start.
What if I'm in crisis?
I'm not able to provide crisis or emergency services. If you're in crisis, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
Your right to a Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
